After wondering if my leeks were too small to harvest, even though it’s 5 months since they were planted (see previous post), I took the plunge and harvested a couple of the bigger ones. They are delicious!
Made a leek and bacon pasta out of these 2 lovely leeks.
The sauce is just:
2 leeks (my small ones) sliced
5 rashers of short cut bacon sliced
button mushrooms sliced
garlic crushed
stir it all up with some basil pesto, milk (or cream but I’m trying to be healthy), and plain flour to thicken
top with parmesan cheese and fresh basil
I actually licked the saucepan! Yum yum yum!!

Yum!! I wish I found this recipe before I made my dinner!
Looks so yummy! I just happen to have some leeks in my fridge from our CSA share…mmm, I think this will be supper tonight! 🙂
What a coincidence – my husband and I just bought leeks from the grocery store for the first time ever today! He loves cooking and I love eating, and we both love veggies, so I can’t believe we haven’t tried them before! He’s using them in an orzo-pea-carrot-leek soup tonight! If I like them I will definitely come back to this recipe!
I’ve only just started cooking with leeks too! They’re so tasty, I’m going to have to plant a lot more next season! Hope you enjoy your soup tonight – sounds delish!
