The Versatile Blogger Award

versatile_blogger_award

I’m finally getting around to this!

Back in mid-November The Belmont Rooster e-mailed me to ask if I would accept The Versatile Blogger award if he nominated me. I was so excited that I did a search about what this actually means (still being very new to the blogging world I didn’t even know there were awards!), and read about all these rules that had to be followed if you got nominated. I immediately e-mailed him back with a big “yes” and began writing 7 things about myself (as the rules said to do). He kindly wrote back and explained to me that you follow the rules in a post on your blog and that he hadn’t even officially nominated me yet. I’m still a bit of an enthusiastic puppy when it comes to any positive feedback/likes/comments on my blog!

So, now that I’m officially accepting the award (not just via e-mail!), I’ll follow the rules.

Firstly, a big thankyou to The Belmont Rooster for nominating me! As you know, I was very excited! The next job is to nominate 15 fellow bloggers for the award. My nominations (in no particular order) are:

Allotment Adventures With Jean

Out Of My Shed

The Jones Garden Blog

nwgreengirl

The Garden Smallholder

YKGardener’s Blog

The Transplanted Gardener

sallysgardenblog

Ramblin’ Through Dave’s Garden

talltalesfromchiconia

The Orchard Cottage

Hen Orchard

Christie’s Garden

greenbenchramblings

Garden

Nominees, don’t feel you need to do anything about this nomination. You can just treat it as a virtual thumbs up/high five/smile. If you do want to accept the award though, the instructions on what to do are here: http://versatilebloggeraward.wordpress.com/.

The next rule is that I have to tell you 7 things about myself.

1. I bought our first Christmas tree in mid November and put it up straight away, along with the 6 decorations we’ve collected over the past couple of years. So much for waiting until December!

2. I live in a beautiful old Victorian house in Melbourne and never want to leave!

3. I live next door to my cousins (awesome neighbours!).

4. I do 12.5 hour shifts at work, so I have 3-4 days off every week. Love it!

5. I have a science degree and a masters of nursing practice and am busily deciding what to study next (to fill in my days off with some brain stimulation).

6. My partner and I are planning to adopt a puppy next year (who will no doubt destroy our beloved garden but we’ll still love them unconditionally).

7. I hate running but have just started up again. I plan to run twice a week in addition to my pilates. I’m on track after one and a half weeks (3 whole runs!). I’m hoping if I keep it up I’ll eventually decide I like it – wish me luck!

Ok, so that’s all the tasks complete. Now I get to put a pretty logo on my blog! If you accept this award and want to display it, just search for The Versatile Blogger in google images, choose a logo you like and copy the URL. Then go to widgets and paste the URL where it asks for it.

Happy blogging 🙂

The Liebster Award

Thankyou to talltalesfromchiconia for nominating me for the Liebster Award. Since I’m very new to the blogging world I’m very excited to accept this award. So now that I have accepted, I have several rules to follow. Firstly, my nominations for the Liebster Award are:

Gardening Mummy Turning Guru
Sarah The Gardener
Flowery Prose
Penny’s Garden: A Harvest Beyond My Front Door
The Hungry Nurse

You don’t have to accept this award as there’s a bit of work involved. It’s just like a virtual high five. Plus you get to put the logo on your blog. Here’s what’s involved:

Nominate 5-10 blogs for the award. Publish links to their blogs in a post and notify each blogger individually. The idea of this award is to promote new blogs, so nominate bloggers who have less than 200 followers. (I don’t know how to find out how many followers another blog has so I just nominated blogs that I think are awesome).

Tell the blogging world five things about yourself.

5 things about me:
1. I’m a nurse.
2. My favourite artist at the moment is Chet Faker.
3. I’m up to my third World Vision sponsor child.
4. There’s a skeleton on my desk named Fred (not life sized!).
5. I do pilates 5-6 days a week.

talltalesfromchiconia set 10 questions for me to answer:
1) Why did you choose the theme you use for your blog? It looked sleek and simple.
2) How often do you post, on average? Every few days.
3) What’s your favourite writing spot? I use a desktop computer so don’t have a choice! The study.
4) What are you passionate about? Gardening!
5) What do you hope readers take away from your blog? Shared enthusiasm.
6) What do you feel constitutes blogging bad manners? Haven’t come across any yet.
7) Do you get excited about your Stats? Yes! Even though they’re pathetic!
8) Do you think a blog is for personal expression or sharing ideas, or both? Both.
9) Salt or sweet? Pretzels or chocolate? Sweet, chocolate.
10) PC or Apple Mac? PC.

And now 10 new questions for you, all of which are a bit of fun, nothing too personal:
1) Blue or green?
2) Strawberry or raspberry?
3) Favourite Spice Girl?
4) Katy Perry or Lady Gaga?
5) Folder or scruncher?
6) Do you prefer cooking or cleaning?
7) Ferrari or Lamborghini?
8) HTC or Samsung?
9) Romantic comedy or action thriller?
10) Shiraz or chardonnay?

Answer these 10 questions and set another 10 questions for your nominees.

Displaying the Liebster logo on your blog is easy. If you decide to accept the award and you’ve completed all your tasks, search Liebster Award logos online. Pick one you like. Copy the URL of the image. Go to Widgets, add image and paste the URL where it asks for it. There’s plenty of pretty images to choose from. Happy blogging 🙂
